The exhibition is devoted to the 140th birth anniversary of Nikolai Roerich who is one of outstanding Russian artists of the boarder of 19th and 20th centuries, thinker and social luminary, initiator of the International Pact of Protection of the Cultural Heritage ("Roerich’s Pact").

Russian Museum owns the widest collections of paintings by Roerich that numbers about 430 works that presents Russian and foreign stages of his creative path. The exposition will bring together about 300 paintings and graphic works (since the earliest ones, created in the period of study in Emperors’ Academy of Art and membership in "World of Art" group) from the collections of State Russian Museum, State Tretyakov Gallery, Peterhof State Museum Reserve and Scientific- research Museum of the Russian Academy of Arts (Isaak I. Brodsky Apartment-Museum).

The significant event of the exhibition will be the show of Bogatyrskiy frieze including the Sadko painting that was seldom presented earlier because of large format. Also there will be sufficiently widely and fully presented the significant stage of Nikolai Roerich’s creative path after emigration from Russia in 1918 - works that he created in India in the 1930’s - 1940’s.
