Rococo (french rocaille - decorative shell) - Style of art and architecture which first appeared in France at the beginning of 18th century. Main features are grace lightness in special intimate-coquettish way. It came as a logical development and the main artistic antipode to heavy and massive baroque. In common with the baroque rococo has got the desire to complete forms, though baroque tends towards monumental solemnity on while rococo is more of elegance and lightness.
