The exhibition will display works taken from the Tretyakov Foundation of XVIII to early XX Century graphic art and will illustrate the stages of progression made by famous artists throughout this period, including “Last Days of Pompeii” by Karl Bryullov; “The Appearance of Christ to the People” by Aleksandr Ivanov; “Boatmen on the Volga” by Ilya Repin; “Boyarynya Morozova” by Vasily Surikov; “Demon Downcast” by Mikhail Vrubel and “The Rape of Europa” by Valentin Serov.
The exhibition will display a number of sketches, such as preliminary sketches of paintings; unfinished compositions; preparatory drawings (including those of antique sculptures and works of old masters) as well as outstanding examples of small studies.
