The Tretyakov Gallery will celebrate the anniversary of the famous sculptor Vera Ignatievna Mukhina (1889-1953) by expanding her exhibition.
Mukhina was distinguished by her gift as an artist with monumental ideas, however many of her projects remained unfulfilled. Visitors will be able to observe various options for her final works of art, which were left unfinished or underwent significant changes - as well as figurines to go with them.
These include: “Memorial Statue to V.M. Zagorskiy” (1921), “Flame of the Revolution” (1922-1923), “Uzbek Woman with a Jug” (1933), “Icarus” (1938), “Old Man Playing the Flute” (1945) and “Shepherd” (1945). Thanks to restoration work, visitors will now also be able to view “Memorial Statue Dedicated to Heroic Aviation” (1944) as well as the composition “Peace” (1953), which are coming back on display after a long absence.
