of icons. He himself painted about 350 icons.
2
Two of them are in the Vatican collection. For these icons, he received a medal
from Pope John Paul II.
In the 70s, he began to engage in modern painting, thereby expanding his knowledge in the
visual arts. He worked in different techniques: painting, graphics, stained glass, mosaic,
ceramics, etc. All this helped to understand what is the painting with a capital letter.
Credo:
«Painting is
not only a
harmonious
composition
of color
spots, lines,
textures,
etc. it is a
bundle of creative energy, a personal state at the moment,
which is poured out onto paper and canvas. The pictorial
language is constantly changing, developing, but of course
it is based on centuries-old traditions. Painting is the most
3
versatile trend in the visual arts. It has unlimited
possibilities to convey the inner world and the state of
the creator. "
The result of analysis and searches in abstract (non-objective) painting was the
creation of such directions: "Abstract Baroque" and "Transcendental Realism" - a
combination of an abstract spot with a pictorial row. Color excites an emotional
state, composition and drawing (line) - a literary plot interpretation.
According to this
principle, Pobozhensky
V.Ya. created a cycle of
mythological and
biblical subjects,
landscapes, still lifes.
The main invention of
the master is the
4
creation of the New Icon "The Risen Canon". This is "an old song sung in
a new way."
The principle is a combination of an abstract color spot
with a linear pattern (line drawing), introduced into the
plot and mythological space of the icon (iconography).
But, of course, the main artistic component of painting,
first of all, is its spirituality.
«Each person has
his own
philosophy of life, his own view of the
world. Its expressions are different. For
creative people, this is expressed
through music, poetry, painting. The
artist's striving for self-improvement,
the search for truth (the essence of
man) lead to spirituality in painting.
Otherwise, everything depicted without
this on canvas, board, paper remains
nothing more than a beautiful picture.».

Mentioned in the “Encyclopedia of Arts of All Times and Nations” (Paris,
“Benezit” publishing house, 1999) as a representative of the abstract
baroque. Participated in auctions Sotheby's, Christie's, P. Karbstein, F.
Bukowskis, Chopping.
